Retrospectives

August 1, 2008 by careyerac

Well, the great American Roadtrip has concluded, I’m back in Asheville, NC, regathering for the next step, whither it be off to teach English abroad, back to school, or another adventure, and Tom’s now living in southern California. I’d like to extend my gratitude to all those out there, family, old friends, new friends, the kind strangers, the fellow travelers, that helped make this such a memorable experience. The outdoor exploits were some of the best of my life, but the people along the way were the real soul of this journey. My sincerest thanks, Carey

The Portland Japanese Garden

July 24, 2008 by careyerac

Truly an amazing place, the Japanesse Garden is considered to be the most authentic of its kind outside Japan. I nearly felt I was back in Kyoto (minus the crowd of tourists of course.) The sand and stone garden [Zen Garden], was especially impressive and held a calm yet active presence.

Dayhike in GNP: Divide Peak

An increddible day hiking in eastern Glacier National Park with Glacierites Joe, Matt, and Roman. A long snowfield afforded a fun shortcut on the way down. Cheers to all the good people in Glacier National Park!
